Egg Carton Roses - a Nancyfangles Whimsical Creation
Turning an Egg Carton Into Valentine’s Roses🌹 A sweet, sustainable craft with a whole lot of heart ♥ A recycled egg carton might not look like much at first glance, but those humble little paper “baskets” are full of potential. Sure, you can turn them into fire starters, trinket holders, or organizers… but what happens when you take things a step further? When you cut, shape, and manipulate that simple carton into something completely new - like a rose? That’s exactly what I did, and I’m so excited about how it turned out that I couldn’t keep it to myself. There’s something wonderful about packaging made from 100% reclaimed paper - it’s already doing its part for the planet. But transforming that already-recycled material into something beautiful feels like giving it yet another chance at life… And with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, this little upcycled rose becomes more than a craft. It’s a thoughtful, budget-friendly way to create something meaningful for someone special. If you’d like to make one (or a whole bouquet), here’s how to bring your own recycled roses to life. Supplies • A recycled paper egg carton • Sharp scissors • Hot glue gun with glue (use with care) • Paint (I used DIY Paint in Kissing Booth) • A few leaves from a silk flower Instructions 1. Separate the cups Cut down the center of the carton, then across, until each “egg basket” is free. 2. Shape the petals Follow the natural curves of each basket and cut it into four petals. 3. Refine the shape Trim and round each petal so it resembles a soft rose petal. 4. Loosen the petals Snip gently between each petal toward the center — just enough to allow movement. 5. Create the rose center Roll your first set of petals inward and glue them to form a tight center. 6. Build the bloom Glue the center into the next set of petals. Keep bending, folding, and layering until your rose looks full and lovely. 7. Secure the base Wrap a rubber band around the bottom and let it sit overnight to hold its shape. 8. Add color Paint your rose with a small brush. If it’s warm outside, spray paint works beautifully too. 9. Optional: seal it A clear-drying spray finish adds durability and a soft sheen. 10. Finish with leaves Glue on silk leaves — and your upcycled rose is ready to gift. ♥
